UR_VANO

Jesús Cataño presents a series of works that form part of his *UR-Vano* project. This body of work revolves around the processes of urbanization and renewal in the country’s major cities, reinterpreting and questioning the concept of landscape.

His work analyzes and highlights the unchecked proliferation of the buildings that make up these cities—structures originally conceived for shelter and protection, but which have now become prized assets and markers of ostentation, value, and status. This phenomenon creates a constantly reproducing fabric—an obstacle in stark dissonance with the small remnants of nature left in urban areas—resulting in a repetitive and stifling landscape.

To create his work, Cataño examines construction materials such as iron and cement, utilizing them to produce his pieces. He proposes a new way of interpreting the buildings he observes daily, focusing specifically on their geometric nature; based on this logic, he establishes a tangible dialogue—a network formed by the individual elements of the exhibition.
