Conceived in Cali in 2021, SEMIOSIS Arte Contemporáneo is a platform dedicated to the circulation and projection of Latin American contemporary art, with a special focus on artistic practices and discourses linked to the Andean region. Under the direction of Nataly Rengifo, SEMIOSIS promotes the work of artists whose practices are characterized by conceptual rigor and a critical gaze toward their social, cultural, and historical contexts. Its proposal favors encounters between artwork, space, and viewer, expanding the possibilities for interpreting and experiencing contemporary art. The gallery conceives itself as an “Art-fact” (Arte-facto)—a platform seeking to blur the boundaries between art and architecture. From a phenomenological perspective, it understands art as an experience directly tied to reality rather than merely a representation.
