It first opened in Quito, Ecuador, in 1982, then moved to Panama before opening in San José, Costa Rica, in 1988. In 2002, it launched in the Wynwood Art District in Miami, USA, as KARPIO-FACCINI, followed by a Los Angeles location in 2008 under the name KARPIO-. In 2015, a new project was launched in the San Felipe neighborhood—the JACOB KARPIO GALERIA—supporting managers Alejandro Castaño and Juan Carlos Paris. Currently, the space operates virtually as JK VRINDAVAN, INDIA (Contemporary).
