For this edition of the fair, my proposal presents the work of two Colombian artists (one from Bogotá and one from Antioquia) whose concepts stem from different axes yet seek to establish a dialogue. These projects evoke important reflections on concepts such as time, consumption, and the body.  In the case of Bogotá artist Felipe Bonilla, his proposal stems from a reflection on consumption (hours, energy, resources) within the physical labor of the artist’s body. Meanwhile, the work of Antioquian artist Carlos Carmona arises from understanding the lunar calendar not merely as a time-measuring tool, but as an element of creation tied to urban development and human life.  Bonilla’s work relies on data collection and the creation of charts to measure the consumption of energy, time, and resources used in performing basic daily tasks. While grounded in statistical logic, this exercise reveals a profound reflection on the sustainability of work processes and the exchange an artist undertakes to lead a life focused on artistic creation.  On the other hand, Carmona presents an installation including photographs, video projections, and sculptures that, starting from the moon, illuminate human life by linking everyday routines with astronomical processes and seasonal cycles marked by celestial bodies for a productive life. It reflects on how contemporary society has subverted cosmogony’s relevance to human existence in favor of rational thought that abandons primitive magical thinking, stripping human beings of environmental and cosmic influences.
